Second generation biodiesel and food crisis

In a letter to the italian newspaper Corriere della Sera Corrado Clini, chair of the Global Bioenergy Partnership, defends biofuels from the critics of being responsible for recent food rises. Clini points out how ethanol and second generation biodiesel derived from cellulosic biomass or algae, whose availability is predicted to be within 10-15 years, will play a major role in providing sustainable energy without compromising neither food security nor environment.
